And did you ever think that a car like this would be running today? Come out to the Kruse Auction to see the very rare, world record holder, 1959 Opel P-1 Hardtop.

This car has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records and comes with well documented history. This '59 Opel is the Shell Oil Co. experimental car that set a World Record of 376.59 miles per gallon in October, 1973. With gas prices rising every week, who wouldn't want to take home this car home?

At one point, this car ran the 14 mile course at the Wood River, IL Shell Oil Refinery on 4.78 ounces of gas. That's just over a half a cup! The Opel was designed and built by engineers at Shell Oil Co. Research Laboratories. Included with the car is a copy of the book "Fuel Economy of the Gasoline Engine" which features this car and knowledge gained from their research with this car.

This car is again running and would be great to have on display or to have for any collection. Kruse is very excited about the upcoming auction.
