Many of America’s top stock car racing professionals own collector vehicles and choose Grundy Worldwide for their insurance needs. And, a countless number of Grundy customers are racing fanatics, in addition to being involved in the collector car hobby. The two worlds just seem to mix together so well.
Are you one of those people who love both sports? And, have you ever dreamt of taking the checkered flag at a famous and historic race track, like Pocono Raceway? Have you been daydreaming about that adrenaline rush? The speed? All those sights and sounds... and the smell of “fast car” in the air? Have you imagined yourself experiencing the pure bliss that would come along with getting behind the wheel of a super fast stock car?
Well, hold onto your chair—have we got news for you!
You can make your dreams become reality. And, we want to help you by passing along this tidbit of information.
In April 2009, Grundy partnered with Pocono Raceway’s StockCar Racing Experience driving school, as a sponsor of the No. 5 race car. We urge our customers to check out the school and take a drive in the flashy and fast Grundy car, which is painted brightly in red and white. Just about anyone can do it!
The staff at StockCar Racing Experience will suit you up, teach you what you need to know, and put you behind the wheel of a SPRINT Cup style stock car, on the huge, super speedway at Pocono Raceway.
Recently, Chuck Wasoski, Vice President of our Collector Car Insurance Program and Becky McLaughlin, Grundy's Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator, had the opportunity to get out on that track.
“It was amazing,” says Chuck. “Everyone should have the chance to feel that rush and excitement.”
And, everyone does have that opportunity.

If you’re looking for the driving experience of a lifetime, you’ve found it with StockCar Racing Experience. They provide meticulously prepared 600 HP SPRINT Cup style stock cars for you to drive, on a 2.5 mile super speedway. If you’re looking for top speed and a real challenge, the 2.5 mile tri-oval at Pocono Raceway, with its long straight-aways and three distinct corners, is an awesome track to drive.
Their stock car driving programs begin with a detailed discussion on the operation of the race cars, safety equipment and track rules. This is followed by an informative tour of the race track, with one of the professional instructors. Then, you are fitted for a racing suit and helmet.
Once you are prepared to drive, you climb on in, strap up and take control of a SPRINT Cup style stock car. As you leave the pit and enter the 2.5 mile super speedway, you experience an adrenaline rush only known to the racing world.

Upon completion of the program, each participant receives a certificate of achievement and even better— memories that will last a lifetime.
To supply the excitement, SRE chose the 2.5 mile super speedway at Pocono Raceway. The very long straight-aways provide the ability to run faster speeds than most other tracks that are shorter in length. The three distinct corners enable participants to experience the unbelievable cornering ability of a Sprint Cup Style stock car. And, the location is conveniently located within two hours of Philadelphia and New York City. For more information, visit http://www.877stockcar.com/
StockCar Racing Experience History
SRE was a vision developed by Jesse Roverana. And, during a phone conversation in September of 1997, he shared this vision with Ove Falck.
Prior to the opening of StockCar Racing Experience, Jesse (SRE President) and Ove (Vice President) had a combined experience totaling 43 years in the racing industry. Jesse had 18 years of corporate experience with the Bertil Roos IndyStyle Racing School. And, Ove had been in the racing industry for 25 years, with the last 10 years spent in race car engineering and driver development with Falcon Racing.
That conversation, in 1997, was the start of a successful partnership that led to late nights of developing a business plan and days filled with their “regular” jobs. Over the course of eight months, Jesse and Ove were able to raise the capital needed to start finally StockCar Racing Experience.
In May of 1998, SRE officially opened a corporate office. By September of 1998, SRE had built five stock cars and held their first track day at Pocono Raceway. By the following year, another five cars were built. As of 2009, SRE has built 24 stock cars that have now traveled over 1,600,000 miles around Pocono Raceway.
Take note that Grundy’s No. 5 race car will be displayed during Pocono Raceway’s Race Weekend, held July 31 through August 2, 2009. It will also be at the Goodguys’ 5th Great American Nationals, running September 25-27, 2009. Come check out the car, meet our staff and have all your collector vehicle insurance questions answered. On-the-spot insurance quotes will be available at both events.
