Mike Gosciniak joined the Grundy Worldwide team in February 2009, only days before the Atlantic City Classic Car Show was held at the Atlantic City Convention Center in New Jersey. While Mike was not immediately sent out to A.C., to be thrown into the car show scene during his first week of working at Grundy Worldwide, it was not long before he found himself packing up his bags and traveling to various car shows across the country.
And, this was a huge change for Mike.
Before working at Grundy, Mike worked as the general manager of a local restaurant, while also pursuing an education in both accounting and business/management. He had never had a job that included extensive travel. In fact, he says that before he pursued his sales career at Grundy, he had only ventured to three states outside of Pennsylvania: Arizona, New Jersey and Florida. To date, he has already traveled to California and Indiana, while working at car shows. He will have the chance to see New York and Ohio within the next month, alone.
The travel opportunities seem endless, for Mike.
As a new business sales representative, Mike was trained to provide Agreed Value insurance quotes for collector cars. But, when he is not in the office, based in Horsham, Pa., Mike will be taking all of the chances he is given to see the country. He is scheduled to regularly attend car shows, bringing his knowledge and understanding of Grundy’s insurance policies to hobbyists, across the nation.
This weekend, you can meet Mike, as he works at the Grundy exhibit that is stationed at the Goodguys 21st Hot Rod Nationals, in Indianapolis, Ind. He and Bill Rinnier, a co-worker and friend, packed up the 24 ft. Grundy trailer and took off for the 12-hour drive to Indy, on Wednesday afternoon.
Mike says that he is enjoying the trips and looks forward to more exciting experiences on the road. While he often frequented local car shows prior to his employment at Grundy, Mike had never attending a show quite as large as the first show he attended as a Grundy representative—the 2009 Spring Carlisle event, held in Carlisle, Pa.

“It was a lot bigger than I expected,” he said. “Just a lot of cars and a lot of people—really interesting people. I was so shocked to see the process of how these cars are assembled...and surprised to see that even when a car appeared to be absolutely ‘perfect’ in my eyes, these car guys still wanted to add more to them! It gave me even more of an appreciation for this hobby.”
Mike says that he is particularly looking forward to attending the 12th Annual Goodguys PPG Nationals, in Columbus, Ohio.
“I heard that it’s ‘the big one,’” says Mike.
“I really enjoy this job,” he continues. “It’s so interesting to see how much hard work and pride people put into their vehicles… how much care and time they put into them. I definitely want to become more involved in the hobby, and I’d like to hopefully get my own collector car.”
Mike says that after talking to hundreds of collector car owners, and checking out just as many cool cars, he has been inspired to get a Shelby Cobra. He says that he envisions it to be black with white racing stripes.
“Maybe I can get one in a couple of years,” he says. “Hopefully.”
In the meantime, Mike says that he’ll enjoy checking out all of the cool cars that Grundy Worldwide insures. While beginning to pursue his interest in collector cars, Mike also finds pleasure in sports—he participates in basketball games, a softball team, golfing and a bowling league. He is also a huge fanatic of Philadelphia sports teams: the Flyers, Eagles and Phillies.
He says that in between work and heading out to car shows, he has been able to attend 10 Phillies games, this year. He hopes to make at least eight to 10 more games, before the end of the season. The above photo was taken at Game Five of the World Series, last October, where Mike and fellow Grundy Travel Team members Bill Rinnier and Krystyn Satko witnessed their home team winning the championship title for the first time since 1980.
