Classic Cars, Muscle Cars and Thousands of Hotrods Expected in Wildwood, NJ this September

.

Three years ago, car collectors Jimmy Johnson and Joe Salerno coordinated The Wildwood Boardwalk Classic Car Auction, Presented by The Greater Wildwood Hotel & Motel Association & BCI. The auction coincides with the East Coast Boardwalk Classic Car Show, held on the boardwalk during the same weekend.

The Greater Wildwood Hotel and Motel Association and Boardwalk Classics Inc. will kick off the third annual Wildwood Boardwalk Classic Car Auction on Sept. 24, 2009; the event will go through Sept. 26, 2009. Held at the Wildwoods Convention Center, some of the rarest muscle cars and classic cars still in existence will be auctioned.

Doors open Thursday, Sept. 24, starting at 1:00pm, and the car auction begins that evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The auction continues Friday, Sept. 25, from 10:00am to 6:00pm; and, the sale carries on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Around 5000 to 10,000 collector car enthusiasts are expected to visit the event to see approximately 350 cars auctioned, according to Ed Mebs, Executive Director of The Greater Wildwood Hotel and Motel Association.

The cars will be auctioned by the world-famous Adcock Team, led by the World Champion Auto Auctioneer, Scott Adcock.

With 37 years of auctioning vehicles under his belt, Scott says: “If you’re a car person, you will have a good time. It’s just a beautiful place—a beautiful facility. And, there are so many things happening.”

Scott will be working at the event with his two sons, Michael and Charlie.  Michael, 22, recently was awarded the title of 2009 World Champion Auto Auctioneer; he was the youngest auctioneer to ever receive the title. Scott was deemed World Champ in 1991. Charlie reigns as the 2008 and 2009 Reserve World Champion.

This family team of auctioneers typically works at around four dealership auctions, each week; and, they are the auctioneers at about ten classic car auctions, each year.

Scott says that after three years of working at this particular auction, he has been able to see the Wildwood event grow and gain a following.

“There are classic cars, muscle cars and thousands of hotrods in Wildwood this weekend,” adds Scott. “And, it can be a family affair.”

He says that between the auction, car show, boardwalk and great restaurants, both children and adults can enjoy the weekend. This show is sure to please anyone who has an interest in automobiles.

While at the auction, do not forget to visit the many vendors that will sell car collectibles, antiques and toys for your shopping pleasure.

Grundy Worldwide’s VP of the Collector Car Insurance Program, Chuck Wasoski, will be on site to provide quotes for your collector cars and answer all of your insurance questions.

Also, on Friday night, all are welcome to attend a free concert that features “The Exceptions,” starting at 7:00pm, at the Wildwood Crest Fitness Park, located at Ocean Drive and Forget Me Not Road.
