The 2009 Atlantic City Classic Car Show and Auction

The 36th Annual Atlantic City Classic Car Show and Auction, Presented by G. Potter King, will be held Feb. 26 through March 1, 2009 at the Atlantic City Convention Center, located at One Convention Center Boulevard.

As America’s largest indoor classic car event, an estimated 600 cars will be auctioned, and another 600 vehicles will be on the floor in the car corral, says John Chiara of G. Potter King. He adds that around 45,000 to 60,000 spectators are expected at the auction.

“And, there has never been a better time to buy a car than now, in the last 25 years,” says John.

John has been involved with the collector car hobby ever since he bought the Atlantic City event, in 1985.  Today, he owns a “modest collection” of 7-8 specialty vehicles, including two 1957 Ford Retractables that resemble the car he owned when he first met his wife; he also owns a 1986 Mercedes 560 SL, purchased in 1985, that is now considered a collectible.  John belongs to a half dozen car clubs, including the AACA, CCCA and ACD.  He says that he has a passion for collector cars and loves the work he does.

Over the last 24 years, he has seen this Atlantic City car event grow into one of the biggest and best in the nation. John says that he believes this year will be a success, as he adds that he has not seen anything slow down in his business as a result of the current state of the economy.

“This year will be a good year,” he says, assertively.

He adds that there will be special highlights at the 2009 event; however, he adds that it is too early to reveal what is in store for bidders.

The event schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Feb. 26: 10:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.; Dealer Day

Friday, Feb. 27: 8:30a.m. – 9:00p.m.; Muscle Cars and/or Convertibles

Saturday, Feb 28: 8:30a.m. – 9:00p.m.; Exotics, Collectibles and Classic Cars

Sunday, March 1: 9:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.; All Makes and Models, 25 years or older

“I love the AC event,” says Chuck Wasoski, VP Collector Car Insurance at Grundy Worldwide. “I love getting out, despite the weather, to hang out with my car buddies at a show, even though it’s the middle of winter. It’s a great way to kick off of the season of hitting up car shows all over the country. It gets us excited for the spring season. And, it’s right in my home state of New Jersey. You can’t beat that.”

Grundy Worldwide is a major sponsor for the Atlantic City Classic Car Show and Auction.  Representatives will be stationed at the Grundy exhibit to answer all your insurance questions and provide you with on-the-spot insurance quotes for your collector vehicles. We hope to see you there!
